Product description
This 11-inch cast-iron crepe pan arrives with a wooden spreader and a wooden spatula designed for making thin, even crepes. The cookware is constructed from enameled cast iron, featuring a matte black enamel interior that promotes browning and a smooth exterior enamel base that sits flat on all types of cooktops, including induction.
Each piece is produced in France and finished with a chip-resistant enamel. The interior finish removes the need for traditional seasoning and makes the surface ready to use out of the box; nonetheless, many cooks prefer to condition the pan with fat for optimal release. The pan is oven safe up to 500°F and is rated dishwasher safe for convenience, though handwashing is often chosen to preserve the finish.
The combination of heavy cast iron and the enameled surface gives very consistent heat retention and redistribution, making it suitable for crepes, pancakes, dosas and other flat items that benefit from even temperature. Every item has slight individual variations from the finishing process, so each example can be considered unique.
Pros
- Outstanding heat retention and even cooking
- Enameled interior reduces need for seasoning
- Comes with wooden spreader and spatula
Cons
- Substantial weight can make tilting difficult
- Wooden handle or utensils can become slippery when wet
- Some users report enamel chipping over time
VerdictA heavy-duty, French-made enameled cast-iron crepe pan that delivers steady, even heat and a cooking surface that minimizes sticking once used correctly. Includes a wooden batter spreader and spatula; oven-safe to 500°F and compatible with gas, electric and induction. Excellent for crepes, pancakes and other flatbreads, though the weight and occasional reports of enamel wear are trade-offs to cons

Sturdy pan that performs consistently
Fantastic once heated: it gives even cooking and eggs or pancakes slide off when ready. Heavy and stylish, this pan feels built to last.

Solid, reliable construction
Doesn’t cling when used correctly and stays flat on the burner. Treating the pan and cooking with butter gives excellent results. High-quality Staub build and durable feel.

Enamel chipped after limited use
We liked it at first, but after roughly a year and a half the enamel began to flake. We handwashed gently and handled it with care, so finding dark flecks in food was disappointing and ended our use.

Good alternative to chemical coatings
Thick cast iron spreads heat evenly, though it’s heavy. The intended method is to use the spreader rather than tilting the pan to swirl batter. The enamel releases crepes easily and avoids synthetic coatings.

Wonderful crepes and a nicer handle
Produces great crepes using butter and the wooden handle is easier on hands than bare iron. Heavy to handle, but a lovely tool I wish I’d owned years ago.

Quality cast iron but not slick like PTFE
Remember this is cast iron with an enamel finish—it will stick more than a coated nonstick if not used properly. Feels well made but is pricier than lighter alternatives; I prefer nonstick for certain tasks.

Excellent purchase (original in Italian)
Padella ben fatta e rifinita; cuocio piadine senza attaccare e la pulizia è semplice. Ho scelto questa Staub per la qualità e finora sono soddisfatta.

Fantastic for true-style crepes; change the turner
This makes authentic Parisian crepes and the wooden handle stays cool. Be careful: the handle can be slick when wet, and the supplied spatula is too small and rough for delicate turning—plan to get a different turner.

Great for crepes after a little prep
I make crepes and pancakes often and needed a larger pan than an old family steel one. I avoid modern PTFE coatings and prefer enamel or seasoned iron. With proper initial care and a little oiling, this enameled pan performs very well for crepes, though it isn’t instantly slick out of the box.

Thrilled with the results
I waited too long to buy one. Pancakes and crepes came out perfectly on first use. The pan is heavy but performs like a well-made griddle and looks great on the stovetop.

From Teflon to a lasting solution (German review)
Ich war neugierig und habe die Pfanne sofort ausprobiert. Sie ist schwer, liegt aber plan auf dem Kochfeld. Die Unterseite ist glatt und für Induktion geeignet; Einbrennen wird in Foren diskutiert.

Lovely look, great for crepes and dosas
Beautiful addition to the kitchen and excellent for crêpes and dosas. Heavy, so swirling the batter by tilting is tiring; best used with the included spreader. It evokes memories of French pans.
