Sealed item but strong odor reported
Bought 16 sealed cartridges; initially seemed fine but after a week a strong, unpleasant odor developed. I clean the humidifier weekly and still experienced buildup and a bad smell after the second week.

Costly if run nonstop
1000 hours equals about 41 days nonstop, so replacements add up. The cartridge works, but it can begin smelling after a few weeks and vinegar soaking didn’t remove the odor for me.

Easier maintenance
Even when using distilled water we still had deposits; this cartridge reduced them so cleaning is simpler and the emitted mist seems cleaner.

Good performance with very hard water
I have two units and tough water; these filters noticeably improve the mist. A bit pricey for what they are, but they work well. Wish one came with the humidifier originally.

Solved hard well water buildup
Used on an H4610 after two years of weekly cleaning. After installing the cartridge the unit ran a week with zero white scale and minimal buildup on the ultrasonic disc; I also noticed slightly lower water use.
