Product description
Osmocote Smart-Release Plant Food Plus Outdoor & Indoor1 is sold as a 1 lb container of granular fertilizer designed to feed live plants for up to six months from a single application. The product contains a balanced blend of 11 essential nutrients formulated for flowers, vegetables, trees, shrubs, roses, houseplants and more.
Each particle is encased in a proprietary resin coating that meters nutrient release in response to temperature and moisture, helping supply plants gradually rather than all at once. The granules are intended for both container and in-ground use — in pots, raised beds, and traditional garden soil.
For outdoor pots, broadcast or sprinkle one scoop (about 3 tablespoons) per 2-gallon container or per 4 sq ft of garden area. Work the granules into the top 1 to 3 inches of soil, water thoroughly, and maintain regular watering. Reapply roughly every six months for continued feeding. When used indoors, apply at half the outdoor rate per plant. The manufacturer backs the product with a no-burn pledge when directions are followed. One 1 lb container will treat up to approximately 37 sq ft of planting area.

Gentle on sensitive succulents
I grow Adenium species and other sensitive succulents in a gritty mix; many fertilizers leave salts that damage feeder roots. This slow-release formula has not burned my plants. I prefer lower nitrogen for larger caudex, but this is the only general slow-release I trust and I reapply about every three months in my setup.

Dependable slow release for pots
This is my standard choice for potted plants. The granules release nutrients as I water and I’ve used it for years without scorching foliage. Plants usually show improvement in about two weeks.

Plants respond well
Plants appear to love it and the container gives a lot of material for the effort, making it a sensible value for regular gardeners.

Positive feedback from others
I’ve only used it once so far — it’s supposed to be applied every six months. I saw good results in a video and it seems especially beneficial for anthuriums.

My hibiscus finally blooms
I struggled to get consistent flowers until I tried this on my hibiscus. Now it blooms almost daily. It’s low-maintenance, dissolves readily, and the directions are straightforward. One container lasts a long time.

Recommended and reliable
A nursery suggested this to me and I’m on my third container. It hasn’t burned any plants and they look healthier overall. It stretches a long time thanks to the slow-release formula, so it feels like good value.

Effective but check suggested amounts
The slow-release action keeps feeding steady so I don’t fertilize often. My plants are greener and more vigorous, though I found the bag’s recommended dose a bit strong for smaller pots and reduced it slightly.

Highly effective but a bit costly
This fertilizer’s slow-release action and eleven nutrients make it stand out; it replaces mixing multiple feeds and saves time. I’d give it top marks for performance but docked a few points because it feels expensive compared with other options.
