Product description
Kaytee Spray Millet comes as a bundle of natural millet sprays packaged together in a 125-count bag. Each spray is the millet seed heads attached to their short stems — the form birds are familiar with in the wild and easy to offer by hand or suspend in a cage.
The product contains pure millet with no artificial colors or flavors added. It’s intended as a treat and enrichment item rather than a staple food. Owners use the sprays for weaning fledglings, encouraging juveniles to peck at solid food, and for bonding or training sessions with adult birds.
Sprays can be clipped to perches, tied into toys, or held for hand-fed snacking. Because the seeds are on stems, they provide foraging activity as birds pick at individual seeds. Store in a cool, dry place to maintain seed integrity and reduce crumbling in the bag.
Pros
- Natural millet on stems — familiar and palatable
- Useful for weaning and hand-feeding
- No artificial colors or flavors
Cons
- Freshness can vary between bags
- Seeds can be messy and spill in the package
- Relatively high in fat — use sparingly
VerdictA simple, natural millet snack that most birds eagerly accept. It works well for hand-feeding, cage-hanging, and helping young birds learn to eat. Watch for variability in freshness between bags and offer in moderation as part of a balanced diet.

Larger sprays that stay in the cage
Parakeets enjoy them and the sprays are large enough not to slip through the cage bars.

Cockatiel can’t resist these
Feels like giving a sweet treat, but my cockatiel absolutely loves them. I’ve had no issues with moths from using these.

Messy but my birds adore them
Two parakeets and two cockatiels get excited for these treats. They do make a bit of a mess, but it’s joyful to watch how much the birds enjoy them.

Quality varies — reorder improved my batch
My first purchase arrived with several crushed sprays, loose seeds at the bottom, and a near expiry date. I complained and reordered; the replacement bag was fresh and the budgies loved it. Quality seems hit-or-miss.

Nutritious and engaging, but offer in moderation
These millet sprays are easy to hang or hold and birds enjoy pecking at them. They supply useful vitamins and minerals and provide mental stimulation. Because they’re calorie-dense, I recommend limited portions and proper storage to keep them fresh.

Disappointed with quality this time
I found the package lacking in seed heads and overall quality felt poor. Not what I expected based on past experience.

Tiels go crazy for it, modest bag quantity
My cockatiels prefer this millet over others. The product seems high quality, though the amount in a bag is fairly modest compared with some alternatives.

Freshness declined over several purchases
My first bag was mostly fine and the budgies loved it, though it wasn’t pristine. The second bag was drier and required careful handling to avoid losing seeds. The latest pack arrived so brittle that many seeds ended up loose in the bag and mailing envelope. There is a "Best Used By" mark, but freshness seemed inconsistent.

Great occasional treat
My birds simply love these. I reserve them for special treats and they’re always a hit.
