Product description
Crossflow design: This wavemaker uses an advanced crossflow approach rather than a single-point propeller. The result is broad, even water movement that pushes water across the tank and prevents localized dead zones, producing more natural, gyre-style currents suited to reef and planted systems.
Controller and modes: The package includes a digital LCD controller that displays real-time settings and lets you select one of four operating modes — Constant, Pulse, Tidal, and Turbulent. You can adjust output strength and frequency across multiple steps, and there is a one-touch 10-minute feeding pause to stop flow for feeding or coral placement.
Power and construction: Powered by a 24V DC low-voltage system with sine-wave motor control and a multi-stage coil design, the unit is built for smooth, quiet performance and gentle acceleration. The motor and drive assembly are sealed to limit ingress, and the magnetic mounting system holds the head firmly against the tank glass.
What’s included and use: Each box contains the gyre pump head, the LCD wired controller, a power adapter, the magnetic mounting assembly, and a user guide. Installation is simple — attach the magnetic mount, position the pump to aim across the display, and use the controller to dial in power and timing. It can also be installed in a sump configuration where a sealed dry-side magnet is required.
Sizing: The wavemaker is offered in two models: FZ-1200 (up to about 1,150 GPH) for tanks up to roughly 60 cm (≈23.6 in), and FZ-1600 (up to about 1,600 GPH) for aquariums from about 60–120 cm (≈23.6–47.2 in). Select the model that matches your tank length and desired turnover to avoid overpowering small systems.
Pros
- Creates broad, natural gyre currents to eliminate dead spots
- Intuitive LCD controller with multiple modes and feeding pause
- Quiet, low-voltage operation with secure magnetic mounting
Cons
- Powerful output means careful sizing is required
- Some users report mechanical faults after extended use
- Controller could offer finer granularity at very low speeds
VerdictThe FZONE gyre wavemaker delivers wide, even circulation that closely mimics ocean currents, reducing stagnant zones and improving filtration. Its digital controller gives fine control over intensity and frequency, plus a handy feeding pause. The unit runs quietly on 24V DC with advanced motor control and mounts securely with a magnetic bracket. Choose the size that matches your tank length and ex

Great product and responsive support
My first unit had a grinding vibration out of the box. Customer service was responsive, walked me through troubleshooting, and arranged a replacement. Once sorted, the wavemaker performed excellently — and the company’s support was a highlight.

Stopped working after a couple months
Performed well for about ten weeks — liked the adjustable power and feeding feature. Then something inside failed, it began rattling and eventually quit. A shame after such a promising start.

Extremely quiet and consistent performer
I liked it enough to add one to every tank. The unit is silent in operation, offers multiple modes, and the controller allows stepped power adjustments. Reliable, unobtrusive, and a good match for hobbyists seeking steady gyre flow.

Well-made choice for sump mounting
This gyre has a robust design and works great in my sump. I needed a model with a fully sealed dry-side magnet and this fit the bill; the manufacturer confirmed the design details for me. It tumbles chaeto nicely and delivers impressive flow. The LCD controller is helpful, though I’d welcome extra fine speed steps.

Very powerful — size matters
This gyre is noticeably strong compared with pricier alternatives. I ordered the larger size at first and it overwhelmed my tank; customer support arranged a swap to the medium unit without issue. The medium model still moves a lot of water, so pay attention to the recommended tank lengths. Plenty of patterns and a useful feeding mode; in my Fluval Flex 32.5 reef it’s more than adequate on the lowest setting.

Quiet, strong, and intuitive circulation
Small unit but moves a surprising amount of water and helps eliminate stagnant areas. The gyre-style flow keeps detritus on the move and improves filtration. The LCD controller is straightforward and makes it easy to find the right flow profile. Runs quietly even when cranked up and the magnet holds firm. Fits both salt and freshwater setups, was simple to mount and start, and has outperformed my expectations.

Affordable fix for dead zones in planted tanks
After fitting this to the back of my 20 gal Waterbox Cube AIO the rear area stopped acting like a dead spot. I run it low on tidal mode to boost CO2 and circulation; new plants have stayed put and established well. The controller is easy to navigate with lots of tweakable settings. I recorded a short clip of it running at 40% tide to verify flow distribution.

Produces a satisfying standing wave
Works well on my 35 gal reef. Point it toward the surface, choose pulse mode, then slowly step the gear wheel until the surface rhythm suits your tank. Wait a few seconds between adjustments and you’ll find the right setting to form a standing wave.

Solid option for first-timers
Overall I’m pleased with this circulator. It’s reasonably quiet and the controls are user-friendly. Mechanical noise can occur if air or debris gets trapped, but otherwise the unit operates smoothly. For a starter wavemaker it’s a worthwhile buy.

Fish and corals responded quickly
I’ve had this running for almost a month and the tank inhabitants seem happier. It replaced two older units that were erratic and destructive. Setup was effortless, the magnetic hold is strong, and the controls are intuitive. Adjusting angle and mode produced a more natural, calmer flow that benefited my corals and fish.
