Revolution Foods Fiesta Steak Taco Bowls for Dinner Parties

Fiesta Steak Taco Bowls is a recipe created in partnership with Revolution Foods. Although I was compensated for this collaboration, all opinions are 100% my own.

Last week I had the chance to attend a lovely event in the city hosted by Revolution Foods. If you aren’t familiar with the brand, it was founded by two moms with a mission to make healthy meals accessible—especially for kids. One of their offerings that stood out to me is their Dinner Hero Meal Kits, designed to simplify dinnertime and help families build healthier eating habits. With two not-so-adventurous eaters at home, a little help in the kitchen is always welcome.

The Dinner Hero kits are clever: they provide the core ingredients and clear instructions so you don’t have to guess what to buy or spend extra time measuring spices. They’re meant to be a base that you can build on—just add a protein or extra vegetables—and they take the stress out of weeknight cooking. No more last-minute runs to the store for a single spice you’ll use once and then forget about. The kits help keep your pantry simpler and your dinners more consistent.

The event took place in a stylish space that made me a little envious of the professional kitchen setup. A private chef focused on healthy cooking showed how versatile the kits can be. She turned the Sesame Garlic Dinner Hero kit into crisp lettuce cup appetizers and transformed the Coconut Curry kit into a vegetarian main using roasted butternut squash—simple swaps that add variety without complicating the process. Every demonstration emphasized flavor and ease, which is exactly what busy families need.

We spent the evening talking about food, parenting, blogging, and ways to keep mealtime enjoyable. The conversation flowed so easily that the event ran late—nearly 10pm—which for many of us is practically a night out.

When I got home I couldn’t wait to try one of the kits myself. I reached for the Fiesta Taco Dinner Hero kit because Taco Tuesday is a regular in our house. While cooking—and naturally pausing to photograph for the blog—my curious three-year-old wandered over and watched me stir a pot of the brown rice and quinoa blend included in the kit.

He asked what it was and, after I explained, asked to taste. I handed him the spoon and watched in disbelief as he tried a grain of brown rice followed by a few quinoa grains—and then said, “That’s good!” For a kid who questions everything (and who once refused to believe all noodles taste the same regardless of shape), this small moment felt like a major victory. Getting a child to try—and enjoy—a whole grain is a win in my book.

The convenience factor was another win: the meal came together quickly. I cooked the quinoa and brown rice blend while my partner grilled a strip steak that had been marinated in the seasoning packet from the box. A few slices of avocado, a handful of fresh cilantro, and lime wedges finished the bowls. Dinner was flavorful, balanced, and on the table in about 20 minutes of active cooking time, with extra time for marinating if you prefer.

I’m grateful to have a few more Dinner Hero boxes on hand—three fewer nights each week that I need to brainstorm dinner ideas. These kits make it easier to serve something nutritious without the usual evening chaos, and they’re flexible enough to adapt to the proteins or vegetables you already have at home. Whether you grill a steak, cook chicken, or make a vegetarian bowl, the kits provide a helpful foundation for family meals.

Fiesta Steak Taco Bowl

Revolution Foods Dinner Hero Fiesta Taco meal kit prepared with grilled steak.
Prep Time 1 hour
Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 1 hour 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1
Fiesta Taco Dinner Hero Meal Kit
  • 3
    Cups
    Water
  • 1
    Strip Steak
  • 1
    Avocado
    sliced
  • Fresh Cilantro
  • Lime Wedges

Instructions

  1. Combine 1 cup of water with the dry seasoning packet from the kit in a large resealable plastic bag. Shake to mix. Add the steak, seal the bag, and marinate for at least 1 hour or up to 12 hours for more flavor.
  2. Bring the steak to room temperature before grilling. Cook over high heat for 3–4 minutes per side for a medium-rare to medium finish, adjusting time to your preferred doneness.
  3. While the steak marinates, bring the remaining 2 cups of water to a boil in a small stockpot. Add the quinoa and brown rice mix from the kit, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
  4. Remove the pot from heat and let it sit, covered, for five minutes. Fluff the grain mix with a fork before serving.
  5. Slice the grilled steak and assemble bowls: divide the rice and quinoa mix between bowls, top with steak slices, avocado, fresh cilantro, and lime wedges. Serve warm.
