Product description
Bolt-on air-ride control for towing: The Shocker kit adds an air-spring equalizer to a round-bar weight-distribution hitch so the normal forces between truck and trailer pass through a compressible air element. That air bag, paired with four bump cushions, filters shocks, tugs, jerks and road chatter to create a noticeably smoother tow vehicle response when crossing joints, rough pavement or uneven surfaces.
Adjustable air pressure to match tongue weight: The air equalizer lets you raise or lower internal pressure to suit different loads—more pressure for heavier tongue weights, less for lighter trailers. Unlike fixed springs or torsion-style hitches, this system can be tuned on each trip to achieve the desired ride firmness and load control.
Designed for pickups with leaf springs: This assembly is intended for use on pickup trucks and other vehicles that use a leaf-spring rear suspension. It is not compatible with SUVs or crossover vehicles that use rear coil-over springs. Typical applications include bumper-pull campers, equipment and race trailers, and toy haulers.
Complete kit contents and configuration: The package includes the Shocker air-ride equalizer (air spring bag plus bump cushions), an XR-channel drop hitch, a round-bar weight-distribution hitch sized for a 2-5/16-inch hitch ball, two two-handled hitch pins with retaining clips, and two complete friction sway-control arm-bar kits (one per side). The assembly fits into a standard 2-inch receiver and provides a 5-inch rise with a 2-inch drop; the air equalizer height can be adjusted to accommodate the proper rise or drop for your setup.
How it works with weight distribution bars: The round load bars transfer part of the trailer tongue load to the trailer and truck axles, reducing rear squat and restoring level attitude. As the trailer changes pitch or encounters bumps, the air equalizer absorbs rapid tongue-weight shifts so steering stability is retained and sway tendency is reduced.
Adjustable sway control: The included dual friction sway bars allow independent tuning of left and right damping, so you can stiffen or soften the connection between tow vehicle and trailer to suit wind, cross-traffic, or road conditions.
Capacity and manufacturing notes: The system is rated to 12,000 pounds gross trailer weight (GTW) with a 1,200-pound tongue weight (TW). The air equalizer module is made in the USA (Shocker Hitch, Jamestown, ND); the weight-distribution hitch and sway bars are manufactured in China. As always, towing capacity is limited by the lowest-rated component in the chain.
Benefits for equipment longevity and comfort: By cutting down on constant shock and chucking loads, the air-equalized WD hitch reduces stress and wear on the truck frame, drivetrain, trailer, cargo and towing equipment. Installation is straightforward and the kit provides a tunable, more comfortable towing experience across long trips or rough roads.
Pros
- Adjustable air pressure for matching tongue load
- Includes complete kit: equalizer, channel hitch, sway bars
- Reduces truck squat and smooths road shocks
Cons
- Only for pickups with leaf-spring rears, not coil-sprung SUVs
- WD hitch and sway bars are sourced overseas
- Requires initial tuning to dial in ideal pressure and sway
VerdictThis complete kit combines an air spring equalizer with a round-bar weight-distributing hitch and dual friction sway arms to smooth tow vehicle motion and help keep a trailer tracking straight. It gives adjustable air-support for varying tongue loads, redistributes weight to reduce squat, and offers tunable sway damping. Well suited for pickup trucks with leaf springs hauling campers, toy haulers

Should have installed it sooner
I debated buying this for a couple years. On a long run from Ohio to Florida with a 40-foot bumper-pull, the trip felt much rougher before I added this. I had the kit shipped to the campsite and installed it there. The tow was noticeably smoother and the sway control was a dramatic improvement over my previous setup. Wish I’d picked it up earlier.
