Product description
What’s in the box: a stainless-steel probe with integrated dual sensors and a walnut-look charging block that doubles as a Bluetooth repeater. The probe is a single, fully wireless unit — no wires to the base while it’s in the meat.
Hardware and measurements: the probe houses two temperature sensors that read the internal meat temperature (up to 212°F) and the ambient cooking environment (up to 527°F) at the same time. The compact charging base has a wood-finish aesthetic and magnets on its underside so it can be positioned near your cooker. The stated Bluetooth monitoring range reaches around 165 ft in ideal conditions; actual distance will vary with walls and obstructions.
Charging and battery: a very short top-up keeps you cooking — approximately a 5-minute charge yields roughly 2 hours of monitoring time, and a full charge provides extended runtime. The probe is user-serviceable in that its battery can be replaced when needed.
Software and use: pairing is done through the MEATER app, which includes a Guided Cook system that walks you through target temperatures, provides estimated completion times, and sends real-time alerts to your phone. The charger acts as a wireless repeater so you can monitor long cooks from inside the house while the probe sits in the grill or oven.
Cleaning and durability: the probe is built from heat-resistant stainless steel and is dishwasher safe for easy cleanup. Because the probe is a solid, somewhat substantial unit, it’s durable but may be less convenient in very small cuts of meat.
Recognition and gifting: the MEATER Plus has received favorable coverage from major food and lifestyle publications and is often recommended as a practical gift for home cooks who want smarter, hands-off temperature control.
Pros
- Truly wireless probe with repeater-equipped charger
- Dual sensors for simultaneous internal and ambient readings
- Guided app with alerts and estimated finish times
Cons
- Signal can vary with walls and grill placement
- No clear battery-level indicator on the block
- Probe size can be awkward for very small cuts
VerdictMEATER Plus delivers a genuinely cable-free experience with smart guidance and dual-sensor readings that remove much of the guesswork from smoking, roasting, and grilling. The companion app and charger/repeater extend reach and add convenience, though users may still run into occasional connection or battery-display annoyances. Overall, it’s a strong pick for anyone who wants reliable remote tempe

Dependable and well built
I already owned one and ordered a second. It works reliably and feels like a quality product. A trustworthy tool that performs as expected.

Makes cooking almost foolproof
Easy to set up and removes much of the uncertainty when smoking steaks, chicken, and other cuts. The app tracks both internal and oven/grill temperatures so you don’t have to open the lid. Guided cooking and ETAs are very useful. Range shifts with walls and grill orientation, but it’s generally dependable and helps deliver consistent results.

Battery life really holds up
Gifted this and it outlasted other probes I’ve used — nine-hour cooks left plenty of battery. Setup and use are simple. The main limitation is keeping the base reasonably close to avoid disconnects. The magnetic, wood-finish base stores nicely on a fridge when not in use.

Powerful app, but two clear drawbacks
When it connects, the app gives excellent guidance and data. Two issues stand out: there’s no battery-level display on the block, which can lead to surprises mid-cook, and the connection can be hit-or-miss at times. Pairing sometimes requires patience.

Precise doneness, smart and easy
This device makes you wonder how you cooked without it. The stainless probe feels robust and the wood-look base is attractive. The fully wireless design avoids messy cables. Setup through the app is quick: pair via Bluetooth, choose the meat, and follow the temperature guidance. The app is clear and helpful.

Long-term owner: it performs
Owned for about five years and still reliable. App is straightforward and readings are accurate. The probe is sturdy but a little large for very small cuts; when wrapping meat in foil be sure the probe tip is exposed for signal. Occasionally the battery needed replacing and recharging, but overall I recommend it.

Easy route to perfect medium-rare
This made hitting the right doneness effortless. Rather than trusting the grill’s built-in gauge, I put the probe in and monitored from inside. No connection problems for me; it saved trips to the grill and worked in rain or bad weather. Very straightforward for any home cook.

Quality product
Used it once and was happy with the result — hoping it lasts for many years.

Simple to use and worth a try
I hesitated because of price and past low-quality units, but this one impressed. Used it in ovens, grills, and smokers for group cooking several times with good results. One time smoke residue on the probe stopped charging until it was cleaned properly — otherwise solid performance.

Ideal for kamado setups
Performs perfectly on kamado grills, offers very good range, and the app supplies all necessary details for serious cooks.

Neat design and accurate readings
Sleek hardware and a responsive app — temperature readings are accurate. The base flashes green when paired and red when not, and the app confirms connection. The charger gives more range than you might expect, though placement matters. Alert sounds are limited to preset tones, and the recent app update added many meat profiles, including venison and other game.

Consistently hits the requested doneness
I enjoy cooking and was frustrated when restaurants or home cooks miss the requested doneness. I learned about this probe and finally tried it. Start by charging the probe in the base (it includes a battery), then open the app and enable Bluetooth — the app recognizes both the base and the probe. From there you select your meat and begin monitoring. It has helped me achieve the exact doneness I want, both at home and when entertaining.
