Product description
This package contains a single Master Lock M176XDLH heavy-duty combination padlock and a backup key for alternate access. The lock is intended for a wide range of uses — from backyard gates and storage units to gym lockers and garden sheds — and is designed for year-round outdoor exposure.
The lock body is made from zinc die-cast metal and measures approximately 2 inches (51 mm) wide; overall outer dimensions are roughly 4-3/8 inches tall and 1.3 inches deep. A reinforced bumper wraps the body to help prevent impact damage and scuffs. The dials are covered to reduce moisture and debris intrusion, improving dial operation and longevity in wet or cold conditions.
Security features include a roller-pin cylinder that increases resistance to common picking and prying techniques. The shackle uses an octagonal boron-carbide alloy in the Tough-Cut design, a material that is significantly harder than standard hardened steel to improve cutting resistance. Shackle dimensions are 3/8 inch (10 mm) in diameter with a 2 inch (51 mm) length and a 15/16 inch (24 mm) inner width, offering flexibility for different locking points.
The padlock is a set-your-own combination model with a four-digit code you can program and change as needed. Changing the combination is straightforward; the included key provides a secondary means to open the lock if the code is forgotten. The covered dials and robust construction make it suitable for outdoor installations where weather and wear are concerns.
Overall, the M176XDLH is presented as a versatile, heavy-duty combination padlock for people who need a resettable code plus a mechanical key backup. Its construction and materials are geared toward resisting cutting and tampering while offering day-to-day convenience for securing gates, sheds, storage lockers and similar applications.
Pros
- Sturdy zinc die-cast body with reinforced bumper

VerdictA solid, weather-protected combination padlock built for outdoor and indoor use. Durable materials and a hardened boron-carbide shackle give strong resistance to cutting and prying. Ideal when you want a resettable code plus a key fallback.

I own several. They work well; I spray silicone on the dials in damp climates to stop occasional sticking.

Frustrating reliability issues
Broke a plastic cover within days and freezes up in cold weather, leaving me locked out unless I force it or wait. Previous experiences with the brand made me reluctant to buy again; this one confirmed my concerns. Also seen demonstrations of how quickly similar models can be opened by skilled pickers. I only needed simple access to a backyard gate, but the lock must open reliably — this caused repeated hassle and wasted time.

Works as advertised for combo users
Fine if you prefer combination operation. It was my first combo lock and I find keyed locks easier.

Quality dropped in newer units
Older versions lasted 15 years. New replacements feel cheaper: dials are hard to turn, adjacent numbers shift, and they jam in cold. Engraving is faint in low light. I'd look for a higher-end option.

Set-up and durability problems
Poor experience: impossible to set my code, the backup key failed, and plastic parts broke easily. Not worth the trouble — avoid.
