I previously owned a Bissell SpotBot (a hands-free model) and appreciated its automation for routine carpet spots. After moving, I decided to buy the SpotClean Pro model 3624 and put it through real-world testing. The SpotClean Pro is a different experience: it’s handheld and requires manual scrubbing, but it delivers more active control and generally stronger suction for deeper spot cleaning.

Difference between Bissell SpotClean Pro vs. SpotBot

Both machines are designed for spot cleaning, but they operate differently. The SpotBot is a hands-free, bottom-brush design: you place it over a stain, start it, and let it run on its own for a few minutes. The SpotClean Pro is a hand-held unit with a separate brush and hose—cleaning requires you to move the tool across the stain manually. If you prefer a hands-off solution for common carpet spots, the SpotBot is convenient. If you want more aggressive cleaning power and control for stubborn stains or upholstery, the SpotClean Pro is often the better choice.

SpotClean Pro’s Sweet Spot

One of the key strengths of the SpotClean Pro is versatility. The 5-foot hose allows you to reach furniture, area rugs, car interiors, stairs, and other tight or awkward spaces without dragging the whole unit into the room. During testing, the hose and included tools made it straightforward to treat upholstery seams and stair treads where pets and kids tend to soil fabrics.

For a real test, we brought in our new puppy, Duke. He chose a brand-new rug—just unwrapped and laid out—as his first target. Of course, the first few minutes of owning a rug can be the most nerve-wracking when pets are involved.

I filled the clean water tank and added two ounces of concentrated carpet cleaner as instructed. A button on the tool dispenses the soapy solution while the integrated brush agitates the fibers and the suction recovers the dirty water into the recovery tank. After a few passes, the recovery tank collected visibly dirty water, and the stain was noticeably reduced.

Disposing of the recovery water is simple: open the recovery tank and pour it out. The compact form factor makes the SpotClean Pro easy to carry and store, and its balance is comfortable when cleaning vertical surfaces or stairs.

Overall, the SpotClean Pro is a compact, effective spot cleaner ideal for pet owners, parents, and anyone who needs a portable solution for spills and stains. It does require manual effort compared to hands-free models, but that manual control translates into more thorough cleaning on stubborn spots.

Recommendation: If you want fuss-free, automated spot cleaning for routine spills on flat carpets, a hands-free model like the SpotBot may be more convenient. If you need stronger suction, greater control, and the ability to tackle tougher stains or clean upholstery and car interiors, the Bissell SpotClean Pro (model 3624) is an excellent choice.
