Product description
What you get: a single 7-inch black external antenna mast sized for Ford Mustang models spanning 1979 through 2009. The unit installs in place of the factory mast and is intended as a direct, plug-and-play replacement.
Construction and materials: the mast is machined from high-strength aluminum finished in a corrosion-resistant black coating to withstand rain, snow and UV exposure. The threaded portion that mates with the vehicle is made from a highly conductive copper alloy to promote a strong electrical connection and reduce signal loss.
Dimensions and fit: the antenna measures approximately 7 inches in overall length, offering a much lower profile than the factory 31-inch mast on many Mustangs. It’s designed to clear low obstructions such as garage roofs and tree limbs while reducing wind whine at speed.
Installation: the design emphasizes quick, tool-free replacement — simply remove the old mast and screw the new one into place. Most users report an installation time of under a minute. Some cars with aftermarket or stuck adapters may require removing an existing adapter before threading the new antenna on.
Performance and usage notes: optimized for FM and AM reception in typical driving environments, the compact mast provides reliable performance in urban and suburban areas. However, AM reception can be degraded in remote or low-signal regions; if you depend on long-range AM stations, retaining the factory 31-inch aerial may be preferable.
Quality and standards: manufactured using non-toxic materials and produced under good manufacturing practices, the antenna is built to meet automotive accessory expectations for durability and fitment. It is rated to tolerate automatic car washes and everyday exposure to the elements.
Pros
- Low-profile, modern appearance
- Durable aluminum with copper thread
- Quick, tool-free installation
Cons
- May reduce AM range in rural areas
- Some vehicles require adapter removal or different thread
- Not compatible with every nonstandard base
VerdictA sturdy, low-profile antenna that updates the look of Mustangs from 1979–2009 and installs without tools. It uses aluminum with a copper-threaded section for reliable connectivity and resists weathering and car-wash wear. Delivers solid FM reception and acceptable AM in many areas, but AM range can suffer in rural locations and some vehicles may require adapter attention.

Solid fit on my 2002 GT
Snug fit on my 2002 Mustang GT. Looks good and works with my car cover. Lost a little reception but not enough to be a problem.

Short profile, strong performer
Way nicer than the stock mast in appearance and reception. I like how compact it is and it’s one of the simplest upgrades to refresh the car.

Much better than my old mast
Fits perfectly and reception improved over my worn unit. It looks sharp. I had to remove an existing adapter that was stuck, but once removed it installed tightly and easily.

OEM look on my 2004
Fits my 2004 perfectly and looks like factory equipment. Radio seems clearer than with the old mast and shipping was quicker than expected. Very happy.

Didn’t fit my 2005
The threaded stud was too thin for my base hole and the antenna’s base was wider than the car’s mount. I’m returning it.
