Product description
What’s included: the HAIBOXING 16889 1:16 scale 4x4 monster truck, 2.4GHz transmitter with speed selector, two 1000mAh rechargeable LiPo packs, a charger, spare body clips, and an instruction manual. The kit also arrives with a few basic tools and replacement parts packed in the box.
Construction and hardware: the chassis and most body components are durable plastic with selected metal components in the drivetrain. The drivetrain uses a brushed RC390 motor and solid gearing; bearings are used where needed for smoother operation. Each wheel is mounted on an independent suspension leg with helical coil springs to provide noticeable damping and better stability over rough terrain.
Performance and electronics: the truck is geared to reach approximately 36 km/h under full throttle powered by the RC390 motor. Electronics are mounted with splash‑resistant protection so the vehicle can handle mud, puddles and light snow. A full proportional 2.4GHz control system provides analog steering and throttle with a control range around 85–90 m (roughly 280 feet) and supports simultaneous multi‑car use.
Battery life and use: the package batteries (two 1000mAh packs) give roughly 20–40 minutes of running time depending on throttle use and terrain; swapping packs keeps sessions going. The transmitter includes a speed switch useful for learners and experienced drivers alike. Front LED lamps help orientation and extend play into low‑light conditions.
Maintenance and upgrades: parts are numbered in the manual and most components are removable with basic screwdrivers, making repairs and upgrades straightforward. Common replacement and metal upgrade parts (gears, differentials, shocks) are compatible with a range of small RC trucks, so modifying the truck for higher durability or performance is an easy path for hobbyists.
Pros
- Strong top speed and lively acceleration
- Splash‑resistant electronics and LED lighting
- Includes two batteries for extended run time
Cons
- Many drivetrain parts are plastic and wear under heavy use
- Shock and upgrade parts may be needed for long‑term durability
- Some users report variable packaging and connector types
VerdictA compact, ready‑to‑run 1:16 off‑roader that delivers surprising speed, solid handling and easy serviceability. It’s user‑friendly for newcomers yet has upgrade pathways for hobbyists. Expect plastic drivetrain parts if you want long‑term heavy use, but the waterproofed electronics, twin batteries and decent run time make it a very capable bash truck.

Three years of play and upgrades
Bought one for my son three years ago and it stayed fun and quick. For heavy or frequent use I recommend stepping up to the pro/metal parts: plastic diffs and gears will wear. We rebuilt ours with metal gears, oil shocks and a brushless swap — that cost more than buying the upgraded model outright, but parts were easy to find and install.

Performs better than cheaper toys
Noticeably faster and more robust than other low‑end RCs I’ve tried. It looks good and runs strong.

Great for mixed‑age play and upgrades
Kids aged 5–14 all enjoyed it over a couple of battery packs. The speed limiter on the transmitter lets you tailor top speed per user. It took hard hits and kept going; replacement metal parts are affordable, so breakage turns into an upgrade opportunity.

Hobby‑grade feel and standout support
Loads of power for a brushed setup — I can only imagine the brushless variant. I upgraded driveline pieces and shocks for a smoother ride; parts are easy to source. Battery life is decent at 15–20 minutes under hard use. After a problem I caused, customer service was exceptional and helped me get it running again.

Received in poor condition — avoid in my area
Package appeared tampered with and loose pins rattled around inside. Tool pouch looked used. The steering struggled to track straight even after trim adjustments, and only one battery was present. Uses older connector types; I was hoping for modern plugs. Not recommended based on this experience.

Tough little truck for heavy use
Gifted this for Christmas and it’s been relentlessly driven. Only issue was a bent shock after a big jump — expected given the treatment. It’s a lot of fun and inexpensive to fix when damaged.

Perfect starter truck for newcomers
Handles rough ground well and spare parts are easy to source online. A solid choice for beginners; buy extra compatible LiPo packs to extend run time.

Small but powerful and reliable
A compact powerhouse — even at half speed it’s quick. Survived first‑day jumps and heavy use. Controls are precise and LEDs help with evening running. My daughter loves it.

Compact, tough and highly entertaining
Small but rugged — tons of fun off‑road. The package includes two 1000mAh LiPos with Dean‑style plugs, the radio with a speed knob, charger, LED headlights and spare clips. The body flexes on impact which helps survivability, and the electronics appear to be splashproof as advertised.

Kid‑friendly yet exciting for adults
I’ve owned a range of RC vehicles from cheap toys to full kits. This sub‑$100 1:16 truck surprised me with its build quality and ready‑to‑run convenience. As an engineer I appreciate the bearings, assembled drivetrain and that it arrives ready to drive. Bonus: it ships with two batteries so you can keep playing without waiting.
